Healing Massage Course

The purpose of this workshop is to teach participants a holistic technique of massage which is unique to the Wellness Spa (Focus Bodywork Ltd.).  It is designed to be a first step to a series of weekend workshops.  The intention is to teach healing massage to beginners, as a profession or to offer those who already do a form of bodywork a different perspective. It encompasses a wide rage of massage therapies including Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Bodywork, Re-balancing Bodywork, Acupressure Shiatsu, Healing Touch and Reiki. The course will include approximately 18 hours of instruction divided into theory and hands-on practical sessions. It will be an intense study of: the body/mind connection; how and where we store blocked energy throughout the body; how to locate these blocks and move them out using practical techniques with energy work; and how intuition plays a major role as a body-worker. The purpose of massage or bodywork is to rejuvenate and relax the body, which affects all aspects of ourselves, not only the physical.

A certificate will be presented at the end of the course and signed after the practicum of 25 massages have been performed.  There are no prerequisites, however any kind of personal growth work will be an asset.
